Debt consolidation… Whats best for me?
I have about 00 of debt in collections. 9 of my 11 collections accounts are medical. The other 2 (6) accounts are sprint and brighthouse. My wife and I are trying to build my credit up so that we will be able to buy a house in the near future. As of right now I dont have any "good" credit. The only things I have in my credit file are collections. I do not currently have anything that needs to be paid regularly(car, credit card, mortgage, etc.). I dont have the Money to pay off all of these people, but i want to.
I have heard that a debt consolidation loan would pay off all of these collection accounts and I would only have to pay the loan back, and at the same time, instantly clear up all the negative account information on my credit file.
Id like to know what to look out for when looking for this type of loan. I would also like to hear any success stories that you have with this type of loan.
Thanks for your time!
Can someone recommend a debt management program?
I had previously anticipated cost of living adjustments (COSA’s) for both the VA disability (I’m a disabled veteran) and Social Security disability. Thanks to the economy, my projections have been laid waste as the government has friezed those adjustments the last three years. Where I once projected having an extra 0 a month, I’m now finding myself short a month and I’ve been borrowing against my credit cards to make all my debt payments. Keep in mind that non-credit card creditors don’t care that I haven’t been getting the COSA’s and these bills (utilities, groceries, security, insurance, etc) keep increasing, not just annually, but some have increased monthly.
I have three credit cards: two of them charge around 21% interest and the third around 30%. I’ve tried to get the interest reduced and have succeeded in some cases, but after a period of time the rates go right back to what they were before. I’ve tried debt consolidation with my commercial banks (the bank I hold my mortgage with and the bank my checking account is with), but have been denied help by both.
So, I’m hurting.
My question is … Is there a debt management program that you can recommend that would help me out? One that won’t hurt my credit?
Or am I better off declaring bankruptcy?
I really want to pay all my bills and don’t want to leave my creditors holding the bag, so bankruptcy would be the last option if there were any other way.
If it helps, I’m a disabled vet (certified 100% thirteen years ago).
debt consolidation?
What is the best company to go through for debt reduction/consolidation? I have about 6 credit cards and they are all at their max, and I am only 21!
Now before you go judging me and telling me not to spend my money on shoes, this was all for school, basic living expenses, and to help my family. Student loan companies wont loan to me because my credit score wasnt high enough and I didnt have a co-signer, and I couldnt get federal aid because the *said* my mom made too much (39k a year as a single parent of 3 kids, 2 of which are dependant, a mortgage and 2 car payments? dont think so!)
So… Who are the best non-profit debt relief groups to work with, coming from experience please?
also– does debt reduction show up negatively on your credit report, or does it just show up as a loan?
