Our children are in debt way over their heads because of student loans and no jobs.?
Our children are in debt way over their heads because of student loans and no jobs. You need to establish a government and private consolidation program for the government to provide to them to lower their loan payments. My son has his Master’s Degree and owes 7,000 in private and government loans. My daughter owes ,000 in private and government loans. His payment is over 00.00 a month and her payment is over 0.00 a month, they both have a couple of part-time jobs making about 00.00 a month. How is it going to be possible for them to live? Our future depends on them and if they are in debt now, what kind of future is there going to be.
Can someone recommend a debt management program?
I had previously anticipated cost of living adjustments (COSA’s) for both the VA disability (I’m a disabled veteran) and Social Security disability. Thanks to the economy, my projections have been laid waste as the government has friezed those adjustments the last three years. Where I once projected having an extra 0 a month, I’m now finding myself short a month and I’ve been borrowing against my credit cards to make all my debt payments. Keep in mind that non-credit card creditors don’t care that I haven’t been getting the COSA’s and these bills (utilities, groceries, security, insurance, etc) keep increasing, not just annually, but some have increased monthly.
I have three credit cards: two of them charge around 21% interest and the third around 30%. I’ve tried to get the interest reduced and have succeeded in some cases, but after a period of time the rates go right back to what they were before. I’ve tried debt consolidation with my commercial banks (the bank I hold my mortgage with and the bank my checking account is with), but have been denied help by both.
So, I’m hurting.
My question is … Is there a debt management program that you can recommend that would help me out? One that won’t hurt my credit?
Or am I better off declaring bankruptcy?
I really want to pay all my bills and don’t want to leave my creditors holding the bag, so bankruptcy would be the last option if there were any other way.
If it helps, I’m a disabled vet (certified 100% thirteen years ago).
Are there really government assisted debt consolidation services available to the public?
My step-mother is a disabled vet, with a massive amount of credit card debt left over from my father passing away. She’s simply doesn’t have enough income from VA disability to pay for all the debt and has been waiting for almost 2 years to get her first Social Security hearing, which still isn’t until next month.
She doesn’t want to claim bankruptcy, she simply wants to consolidate a few credit cards and a small home equity loan into a single low interest account she can make large payments on. I believe in total, she has about 20k dollars worth of debt between all the accounts and is paying just over the minimum payments about 0 a month. She’s not really making progress with the current state of things.
Most of the debt consolidation sites seem to simply be bankruptcy attorneys, which is obviously not what she’s looking for.
We are in the Texas, so any state programs, federal programs or anything the VA might offer would be great. I’m looking for a non-profit or social service that can assist her, not just an attorney out to make some money off people who are already struggling.
strategy for getting out of debt?
please no judgement, just effective strategies.
I have 70k in private student loans with a variable student interest rate of 6-12% (private student loan consolidation is no longer an option).
I have 120k in federal student loans with 4-6% interest rates.
5000 on a 19% credit card
5000 on a 0% credit card (for twelve more months)
and 4,000 on a 23% credit card.
I finally secured a government job, I bring home 2,600 for 26 paychecks a year and next year i’ll bring home 3,000 for 26 pay checks a year. I have my monthly house hold bills under 1000 and contribute 5% of my salary to a TSP (gov ret program).
Does anyone know of any government approved debt consolidation programs?
I know I’m not the only one struggling with this problem. But I really need some help
I had a credit score of 670 about two years ago. Now I’m scared to even check. I have two maxed out credit cards, and a furniture bill that all about equvilates to a little less than 10,000 in debt. My boyfriend has a bunch of medical bills and for a while I was the only one with a job. I’m drowning in debt and finding it very hard to pay my bills. I want to consolidate my bills and get out of this black hole. There r so many programs, but im afraid to get scammed. Can ne one help me out?
